An innovative new approach called SMaRT, underpinned by a number of digital tools, has won the Green Award at the BusinessCar Fleet Technology Awards (or Techies).
SMaRT, which stands for Sustainable Mobility and Responsibility Targets, has been developed by Arval which is a leading vehicle leasing company. They took this step with a growing number of customers looking to new vehicle technology as a means of reducing their environmental impact.
Arval research showed that 59% of companies are making CO2 emissions a priority in their company car policies making SMaRT a timely tool.
The approach uses five steps to support customers, all facilitated by members of Arval’s expert Consultancy Team:
1.) Customers define their sustainable vehicle ambitions and priorities
2.) An assessment of the current vehicle fleet is carried out against key performance indicators to determine the right replacement strategies for each vehicle
3.) Arval’s SMaRT calculator uses driver profiling to find the best match with a powertrain type, factoring in environmental impact and ongoing vehicle costs
4.) A discussion begins on alternative vehicle options that could work for the customer
5.) Progress towards targets is measured, and transition roadmaps created
Shaun Sadlier, head of consultancy for Arval in the UK, said:
“Environmental issues have moved up the agenda for many businesses in recent years, which is a trend that is set to continue. At the same time, we have seen the emergence of a range of new vehicle technologies which help these businesses to limit their environmental impact.”
“Our customers are looking to us for advice and support as they transition to cleaner vehicles like plug-in hybrids and fully electric models. We believe that SMaRT is a powerful tool in supporting this and the BusinessCar award is a great endorsement of this.”
